Dot TV

everything you want to know about .tv Internet Broadcasting Channels

Is ChannelMe.tv More of the Same?

The half-baked former MTV celebrity Carson Daly and former MySpace Chief Executive Richard Rosenblatt have paraded around promoting ChannelMe.tv for approximately two years.  For close to $30 ChannelMe.tv offers individuals a .tv domain address and social-networking tools including widgets, subscription feeds, blogs and buddy lists.  Video and social networking have been among the web’s hottest gimmicky trends which you would think is good news for Rosenblatt and Daly, but unfortunately there is one major difference between their social networking platform and those commonly used by millions of Internet users daily.  Channelme.tv is a social networking platform strikingly similar to My Space and You Tube, but individuals have to indirectly pay for it when purchasing a .tv domain and what exactly are they getting?

As it currently exists the ChannelMe.tv social networking platform is limiting the possibilities of .tv domains and targeting very limited markets.  Technology experts agree that ChannelMe.tv social networking sites are nothing more than glorified parked pages and in the future will fade away into obscurity.  Individuals cannot explore their creativity and are ultimately dissatisfied with the free platform.  Corporations cannot create true and accurate corporate representations and as a result do not dare to utilize such gimmick.  Many individuals utilizing this social networking platform already realize its limitations and have outgrown it.

Existing before the inception of Demand Media, Unity 4 Humanity since April 2006 has set many standards and benchmarks in the .tv industry.   They do not embrace the social networking .tv domain platform.    More and more corporations are taking advantage of the Internet Television Merger and developing unique .tv channels otherwise known as Internet Broadcasting Networks.  Unity 4 Humanity develops Global Web Presences that utilize a .com and .tv channel as foundational elements with other TLD’s functioning as peripherals.  Fortune 500 corporations are exploring the unlimited marketing opportunities available with uniquely developed .tv channels, and they are doing so with the best in the industry, Unity 4 Humanity. Individuals are frequenting Dot TV on Demand because it showcases uniquely developed .tv channels and makes them easy to find.  At the end of the day it is clear there is a difference between Unity 4 Humanity’s .tv channels and Demand Media’s .tv domains.

Demand Media’s .tv domain development services are contributing to the delinquency of the Internet.  As a media mogul Rosenblatt has done nothing special with his new endeavor; in many ways his company’s social networking software is riding the coattails of established social networking sites.  Dot tv domains under his control have done little more than inspire individuals to pull already created videos from massive video social networking sites already existing.  One would think all the investor capital would inspire his corporation to develop and create something amazing, but unfortunately he has produced more of the same and/or purchased already existing and prominent entities.  There are those who create the times we live in and those who merely live in the times; ChannelMe.tv is more of the same and nothing new.  Check out Cookie Cutter TV, then check out unique Dot TV Channels–the difference is astounding.

  1. Please don’t censor this post because it is important everyone knows Channelme.tv Sucks! I don’t get it? It’s like a crappy knock off of You Tube and MySpace and most of the sites have the same content you would find on YouTube, so why not just go there! You are right when you say they have created nothing new. The dot tv’s on demand are unique and much more entertaining.

  2. I don’t get it. Channelme.tv and that entire platform is going to fail. What they call “channels” is a disgrace; all those sites look the same, have the same content, and do not do anything to enrich the Internet or engage viewers. Apparently you cannot buy brains, creativity, or insight with big money in investor capital. Not only are Channelme.tv sites the most stupid sites I’ve ever seen; I will never stay on one for more than 3 seconds ever again! There is a lot those folks could learn from Unity4Humanity.

  3. It’s really a shame what they are doing; they just want to make money, that’s it. Their ad revenue sharing service basically creates pages upon pages off of individual’s sites with links upon links; another words people have no idea how “large” their site really is because it is expanded without their knowledge. Not only are they providing an inferior product, they are providing a product people have been using for free like YouTube, Myspace, and Facebook. The entire thing is a ridiculous gimmick.

  4. Channelme.tv should be called ChannelPee.tv. That’s probably a good investment–stream video of people taking a pee and sell ad space.

  5. Perhaps I’m in the dark, but I didn’t realize Channelme.tv is so big and powerful. I’ve always associated U4H with dot tv. All those channelme.tv websites are horrible and what little text appears on those sites doesn’t even render nicely on my screen. I guess I never saw a Channelme.tv site because I always find my dot tv through the dot tv guide and dot tv on demand. If Demand Media really wants to succeed and if dot tv is going to take off quickly the two of you should team up—then the two of you would be unstoppable.

  6. This Channelme.tv is a very scary platform. I really feel for both children and parents these days. Having a website is a privilege and children should be encouraged to have websites, but not like these. We have to encourage children to explore technology and educate them to the pitfalls and dangers. Channelme.tv sites do nothing to enrich the content of the Internet, do nothing to stimulate the mind, and are just a gimmicky and mindless money maker. Parents should be aware of what Channelme.tv sites their children are exploring if any. Many of the sites I have seen are explicit and pornographic in nature. Many schools have “blocked” YouTube from computers and restricted access; the same must be done for all of these Channelme.tv’s.

  7. I think this is very funny and shows just how clueless Demand Media and these people really are. I love Dot TV. I suppose you can say I existed before Demand Media and U4H the two DotTV Giants. I look for and have read every piece of information I can find about DotTV since 1996; hands down Unity 4 Humanity is the most credible and reliable. U4H is the only company transforming Dot TV and informing regular individuals and businesses. Business Anthro coupled with technology is just outstanding and brings a sense of clarity to domain names, Dot TV in particular.

I found this EXACT SAME Channelme.tv news article on Richard Rosenblatt’s Richard.tv. In fact, if you look at other Channelme.tv sites and premium dot tv’s for sale, some have U4H video content. Appropriate.tv’s main video is a U4H video.

    http://www.appropriate.tv/video/159656-u4h-business-solutions-internet-television-broadcasting.html

There are many examples of the great Demand Media using U4H’s content and information to in essence help sell their Dot TV Domains. There Namejet.com site is clearly developed with the same look, feel, and platform as The Engine That Can. They don’t have a clue about this industry and where it is going to go, all they can do is cling on to gimmick, acquire, and mimic.

I would like to know if Unity 4 Humanity has ever had any contact with Demand Media? Has Demand Media ever tried to work with and collaborate with you guys?

  8. Hey Captain; did you know Carson Daly has a post about Content Management Systems on his blog? Does he know what a CMS is? In fact the CMS post is “Does your website have a Top 10 Ranking?”– the very same news post on this dot tv blog.

I think what they are doing is wrong and delicious. In essence they are stealing information word for word and publicizing U4H on their sites. What morons!

  10. You guys hit the nail on the head. This Channelme.tv is ridiculous. Why would anyone want to use that when people can use for FREE sites like YouTube, MySpace, and Facebook. The whole point of a .tv domain is to have an internet television channel, not a mediocre social networking site. The .tv domains should be developed in a unique fashion like those on Dot TV on Demand and the ones Unity 4 Humanity has developed. I hope Demand Media wises up.

By the way I agree with uohaa; this is a great blog with amazing information. I will be sure to frequent!

    Comment by Karen | June 15, 2008

  11. Channelme.tv is not even more of the same, that is being too kind. Jasmine the first to comment hit the nail on the head when she said “Channelme.tv SUCKS!”

You Tube, MySpace, FaceBook are all far superior platforms and 100% Free. Channelme.tv tries to sell you on the fact that you have your own website, so in other words you can buy a website that is worse than platforms available for Free. Anyone looking to develop a .tv domain and does so with that platform should get their head examined. All those sites are Cooke-Cutters and if Demand Media didn’t have so much investor capital I’m pretty sure they would already be out of business.

On many popular Forums more and more individuals not only have problems with Channelme.tv in general and their new ad revenue sharing program, but they have problems with the unethical practices of their registrar Enom. Don’t trust them or their products at all, that’s my suggestion.

    Comment by Simon | June 17, 2008

  12. This is the BEST .tv news and technology blog I have ever visited! I wish Unity 4 Humanity all the success in the world and I hope you guys continue to launch unique dot tv sites because Demand Media and Channelme.tv are a disgrace to social networking and Dot TV. How could anyone look at a Channelme.tv site and think it is appealing? It is obvious they have never had any women’s input on the esthetics of their template sites.

Anyone I know who has a Channelme.tv site says it is an absolute waste and they are just waiting for their domain to expire. The also say Enom is the absolute worst registrar.

    Comment by Maddie | June 22, 2008

  13. The difference is astounding! I much prefer the direction Unity 4 Humanity and Dot TV on Demand are taking the .tv domain industry. Channelme.tv is something that will surely not catch-on because the free alternatives are much better.

I agree with you guys and believe .tv’s should be more than just a cookie-cutter site. I also appreciate all of the unbiased information you present on your sites. Keep on truckin’.

Also, before I forget, I would like to say as an Enom customer, I agree with Maddie and believe they are the absolute worst for a plethora of reasons. I’m slowly but surely transferring my domains over to “the engine that can.” Unity 4 Humanity’s registrar has the best resources, information, customer service and last but not least some of the BEST deals.

    Comment by Carl | June 23, 2008

  14. Channelme.tv is the stupidest shit I have ever seen. I don’t understand how anyone can invest in that crap. Why would anyone in their right mind pay for something that you can get for free elsewhere–and not only is it free elsewhere, it is better elsewhere. Thank God for Unity 4 Humanity because Demand Media clearly has their head up their asses and doesn’t have their finger on the pulse of anything. They have no concept as to what people want–and time will show they have no idea how to make money and show investors a return on their investment. If SMART is being at the right place at the right time, then Richard Rosenblatt is Mr. Magoo unaware of the buildings crumbling around him–that guy doesn’t have a clue and it is quite obvious but nonetheless he laughs all the way to the bank. People are going to wise up, and it is just a matter of time before Unity 4 Humanity stands alone and no one will have ever heard of Demand Media and Channelme.tv. What a stupid platform and what a bunch of incompetent assholes. It is now apparent to me that they are doing nothing to enrich the Internet and DotTV—the only thing they are doing is screwing regular people and making the quick buck. Channelme.tv sites “S” “U” “C” “K”!!!!!!

    Comment by Jacko | June 26, 2008

  15. I think it is unfortunate that many people still don’t truly understand .tv domains and what they are really capable of doing. I think it is an out right shame that many individuals first introduction to .tv domains is the limited and generic channelme.tv platform. People don’t know any better and I am sure many think channelme.tv sites are the end all and be all for .tv domains, and that obviously just isn’t true.

I am thankful a company like Unity 4 Humanity exists to contend with Demand Media and provide unique alternatives to the channelme.tv platform. Unity 4 Humanity really created unique Dot TV Channels and your global web presence solution utilizing a unique .com and .tv channel in tandem with other globally recognized domains like .net, .info, and .org is such a simple concept–it is quite revolutionary.

It is just a matter of time before this channelme.tv platform is recognized for the stale and lack luster platform it is. The cream ultimately and always rises to the top and it is just a matter of time before these sites fade into obscurity as the development of unique dot tv channels by corporations increases, and the cost to develop unique dot tv’s goes down.

    Comment by My 2 Cents | June 30, 2008

  16. I purchased five .tv domains through Channelme.tv and in one years time I realized how useless this platform is so I transferred my domains to The Engine That Can and built my own unique sites with the Web Site Tonight development tools you offer. If anyone thinks making a web site is difficult, a monkey can make their own site with that package–it was easy to launch the site live, and unlike Enoms and Channelme.tv your technical help and support is excellent. Now my sites are not run of the mill, they really stand out, are very professional and I’m starting to make money.

    Comment by Walt | July 2, 2008

  17. Just thought people might like to know YouTube, Unity 4 Humanity sites, and many unique dot tv channels are 100% compatible with the iPod Touch making it very easy to find and watch video. The channelme.tv sites don’t look the same on my iPod Touch as they do on my computer? The channelme.tv sites also don’t have unique video. I don’t see channelme.tv and Demand Media competing with Unity 4 Humanity at all, I see them competing with YouTube and they are losing. U4H is what me and my friends found when exploring dotTV and has helped us find sick videos, internet shows, cartoons and animations. Channelme.tv isn’t what young people want at all, it is something they think we want. I’m pretty sure channelme.tv will never catch on with my friends–will never be packaged into devices like the iPod touch–and me and my friends hope the dotTV on Demand staff will begin listing many more unique dot tv channels. Also last time I checked Carson Daly wasn’t cool since MTV. Jon Stewart on the other hand has and always will be cool–he also went to William and Mary like Anthony Galima. Why doesn’t U4H get Jon Stewart to help promote Dot TV?

Comment by iPod Touch | July 6, 2008

  18. Dear iPod Touch,

Both .tv on Demand and the Dot TV Guide will be listing many more unique dot tv channels in the next coming months. Dot TV Channels are being developed at a feverish pace and you and your friends will be amazed at all of the new listings to come.

It is true both Anthony Galima and Jon Stewart went to The College of William & Mary, but Jon Stewart is fairly older and they do not know each other although while attending college Anthony saw Jon Stewart drinking a beer at the Green Leaf. Without question U4H would love to have a genius like Jon help promote DotTV. Perhaps our CEO will be invited to appear on one of his shows and discuss the future of technology, the Internet, and Television!

Thanks for the wonderful comments and thank you for being a part of the Internet Television Merger! Continue to support unique dot tv channels and Unity 4 Humanity.

P.S. We know Channelme.tv isn’t what young people want and we are pretty sure it won’t catch on either.

    Comment by U4H | July 14, 2008

  19. The channelme sites are stupid. They don’t have a good directory to browse their sites easily like Unity 4 Humanity has with Dot TV on Demand and every channelme site I went on has You Tube content. Why would I struggle to find YouTube videos on channelme sites when I could just go to YouTube? What they are doing has already been done much better. What Unity 4 Humanity is doing is encouraging and stimulating something entirely unique and different. I give Channelme.tv sites TWO BIG THUMBS DOWN!!

    Comment by Hot Dream 23 | July 17, 2008

  20. DotTV is what it is today largely because of U4H and Demand Media. Although Channelme.tv sites are nothing more than glorified parked pages, Demand Media is helping raise awareness about .tv domains. I hope in the future they will move away from this horrible gimmicky platform and begin to work with Unity 4 Humanity in developing unique Dot TV News Channels and true Internet Television Broadcasting. I hope more and more people will begin to see and understand that the Channelme.tv platform renders DotTV domains into boring sites falling far short of expectations. The people are really losing out, because they don’t know any better and are being presented an inferior product limiting and restricting the DotTV industry. It is amazing to me to see how far superior Unity 4 Humanity is, yet Wired Magazine, Forbes Business, and other technology periodicals haven’t written much about all their groundbreaking accomplishments. It is my hope next year Unity 4 Humanity will surpass Demand Media. It is my hope soon people will begin to understand they don’t have to settle for mediocrity.

Comment by Tech Expert | July 28, 2008

  21. Channelme.tv is a horrible platform with many glitches–it’s like one of those items given away for free that nobody really wants but they just take it anyway, then never use it or throw it away. And I’ve seen a lot of videos on YouTube with Richard Rosenblatt–he seems like a really fake bastard who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But I suppose he can be as fake and incompetent as he wants because he’s laughing all the way to the bank. The Channelme.tv Add-Revenue program is spiraling out of control and there are pages and pages on people’s sites that they don’t even know exist which are making money for Demand Media. It’s really a shame what they have decided to do and the direction they are taking. All they want to do is just be pigs and make a ton of money.

    Comment by Mike D. | July 28, 2008

  22. It seems to me like Demand Media’s business model is a carbon copy of Unity 4 Humanity’s with a few major differences. One major difference is their Channelme.tv platform does not yet have, and will never have a mainstream appeal. Rather than giving people another YouTube or MySpace, they could have gone another direction and developed something unique. Their platform also isn’t professional and no self respecting business or business professional has any desire to utilize that platform. Another difference is Demand Media are not innovators–much of what they have done is copy and purchase what they can, rather than develop and create. The best example of their blatant copying of U4H is Demand Media’s Namejet.com auction site which is directly modeled after, and looks exactly like U4H’s registrar TheEngineThatCan.com.

What would be best for the Internet and the future of Dot TV is if Demand Media and Unity 4 Humanity began to work together. Many of Unity 4 Humanity’s sites are better to define and shape this industry such as Dot TV on Demand, Dot TV Guide, Dot TV Developers, and new sites slated for development such as Dot TV Auctions, Dot TV Remote, etc. Because Unity 4 Humanity existed before Demand Media, it is clear they had the first opportunity to invest in Dot TV and handpick not only the most desirable Dot TV domains, but also all those domains that would be important in the Dot TV Industry. Don’t get me wrong, I am not implying Unity 4 Humanity needs Demand Media, I’m just saying Demand Media is backed by tremendous investor capital and collectively both companies can “build to dreams, not limitations.” Richard Rosenblatt and Anthony Galima, CEO’s of both companies are both brilliant individuals that have contributed to the richness and direction of this technological age, and I know I am not alone or wrong when I say the two of them should get together and collaborate. I would love to see a video of Galima and Rosenblatt discussing the future and direction of Dot TV; I would love to see Dot TV Channels really go mainstream and claim there place in history as the domain extension that transformed Television and Internet Videos.

    Comment by Jonathan B | July 30, 2008

  23. I agree and disagree with Jonathan. I believe Unity 4 Humanity is something special, unique, and unparalleled. Demand Media would probably hurt Unity 4 Humanity more than help them. I like that U4H is the FIRST and I like the direction they are moving in–I wouldn’t want to see Demand Media screw that up. I wouldn’t want U4H to become “more of the same” and lose their individuality. It would be an interesting partnership that could be great for the DotTV industry provided Unity 4 Humanity continues to take the lead, continues to stay true to their mission–and provided .tv domains continue to be developed uniquely, support multiple languages, and be compatible across computers, mobile phones, and other hand held devices. Channelme.tv sites are good for teens, but that’s about it. Remember I was a former Enom customer and switched to Unity 4 Humanity because they are clearly better, they care about me, and always go the extra mile. Demand Media is the company with idol worship and a partnership would be great as long as they realize they are second fiddle and have a lot to learn.

  24. I just stumbled upon this blog thread. What an amazing amount of information and interesting conversation. I wish I could add more, but I’m just a novice and find all of this amazing. It seems to me the difference between unique channels with unique content and the Channelme.tv sites is clear. I really don’t get the channelme.tv sites, they have a very limited appeal. I hope Unity will begin developing dot tv channels on a larger scale.

  25. Some people know Richard Rosenblatt is a snake in the grass and has been for some time. Don’t let his You Tube videos or RIchard.tv fool you–this man is smart, coniving, and deviant. At http://www.freemyspace.com/misdeeds.htm you will find a very interesting news article called “HOW INTERMIX CEO RICHARD ROSENBLATT BET AGAINST AND BETRAYED MYSPACE WHILE SELLING OFF INTERMIX’S BEST ASSETS.” This article goes into great detail illustrating the WEB OF LIES and DECEIT RIchard Rosenblatt has perpetuated since 2003. Rosenblatt had never operated a profitable Internet company, and his last two endeavors were massive disasters. He significantly misled the public about his disclosed role in bankrupt Dr. Koop, Inc., via February 2004 background disclosure in Intermix press release. Rosenblatt covered up that he was CEO when Koop went bankrupt. In addition Imall, his pre-Koop company, was actually a tiny company with total revenue of only $800,000 million per quarter and losses of $4 million per quarter. Both Imall and the acquirer went out of business 12 months later. Rosenblatt had previously been CEO of Superdudes.net a Santa Monica-based children’s game Web site with revenue less than $50,000 per month. The company was just about out of the $5 million in cash Rosenblatt had convinced his friends and family to invest. Superdudes was going nowhere and the Web site was probably not worth more than $20,000. in early 2004, Rosenblatt spent some time trying to sell Myspace to dating companies like Jdate. Based on the resistance by the Myspace team to be sold and the quick sale of Skilljam Rosenblatt achieved, Myspace stayed an eUniverse asset. However, Rosenblatt would quickly sell off a huge chunk of ownership in Myspace at bargain basement prices.

The relationship between Rosenblatt and the Myspace team became increasingly bitter and contentious. Myspace executives Chris DeWolfe, Josh Berman, and Tom Anderson in late 2004, felt that Rosenblatt had bitterly betrayed them by cutting off Intermix resources to Myspace and trying to knock off their social networking strategy via the launch by Rosenblatt of a new competing social network, Grab.com

It would be a BIG mistake for Unity 4 Humanity to get involved with Richard Rosenblatt and Demand Media in any way, shape, or form. This man only has his own agenda in mind and will not hesitate to throw you under the bus. I love what Unity 4 Humanity is doing for the Dot TV Industry, I love the direction they are taking, and I wouldn’t want them to become “more of the same.”

Comment by Richard Rosenblatt | August 5, 2008

  26. These comments have really opened my eyes. I can’t believe all the brilliant comments and I hope my comment will live up to the others.

If you read popular news articles about Richard Rosenblatt and Demand Media, just about everything smells like roses, but only do you find the truth when you read about others experiences with them.

While researching this posting, I actually found the same posting on Richard.tv under http://www.richard.tv/blog/tag/Rosenblatt and the comments are actually pretty funny. They don’t specifically comment on anything, all he did was cut and past various articles written about Demand Media. They also mention Livestrong and how they developed that site with Lance. Big deal, one stinking site, and they probably only developed it because of Lance’s fame and because they saw an angle for themselves to capitalize. Maybe next they’ll do a Brett Favre site or something and hop on his publicity train.

I really am afraid for the Internet and am fearful Demand Media will eventually saturate the Internet with gimmicky mindless crap. Judging from their CEO’s site Richard.tv it is clear they really put very little care and consideration into what they do. He is liviing on a Gravy train and has many people in the know completely conned as well as many enemies. You don’t get as big and powerful as he is without squashing a few people. I think the best thing individuals can do is continue to support other platforms and companies like U4H. What I see as the major difference between U4H and Demand Media is that U4H cares about people and preaches assisting individuals and corporations achieve excellence and success whereas Demand Media doesn’t seem to stand for anything.

    Comment by Lawrence R. | August 11, 2008

  27. Channelme.tv sites are a total disgrace and it is obvious Demand Media doesn’t care about what people say or think, but people on this blog care so I’m going to say what I think.

People should take down their stupid Channelme.tv sites and show Demand Media what they think through their actions. That would send a definite message that they would hear. The only way to get through to some people is through their pockets. You really should check out Namepros.com. They have a lot of interesting dirt about Demand Media, Enoms, and Channelme.tv. Many disgruntled individuals and many people who don’t see the big picture but think they know everything, and a few people that are passive aggressive Demand media supporters. I think probably most people with channelme.tv sites are people who call themselves investors and are hoping to make a few dollars with the ad revenue service.

It looks like Demand Media better stay on their toes because there is a definite undercurrent of disgust.

  28. I don’t see what the big stink is? Channelme.tv sites are part of a social networking platform that isn’t very good. Personally I don’t get the sites–I don’t see anything special about them. Facebook, Myspace, and YouTube are all the social networks you need–they are much better and they are free. I agree with pretty much everyone, especially Jacko–why pay for something you can get for free and better elsewhere?Channelme.tv sites pretty much stink because they are so unappealing. All my friends pretty much have a myspace page, a youtube page, a facebook page–I don’t know anyone that has one of these stupid sites. I also know pretty much all of my friends find Dot TV Channels through U4H sites and whenever I randomly punch in a Dot TV site, if it is one of those channelme.tv sites I don’t waste my time and immediately click to something else.

  29. What a great news article and unbelievable blog comments. I found this article because as a 47 year old who doesn’t have much of a clue when it comes to the Internet, I was trying to figure out what exactly Channelme.tv sites are. I didn’t understand them and I didn’t know Dot TV from a hole in the wall. Now I know I don’t want a Channelme.tv site and many people don’t understand them because they serve little or no purpose, have redundant information, and are all around unattractive. If the Channelme.tv platform was so great, Lance Armstrong would have used it for his Livestrong site. I’ll definitely be back to this Dot TV blog and will certainly consider using U4H’s services because I can see U4H wants to truly help people, empower people with information, provide excellent service, and one of a kind products.

Many of you say to U4H “keep up the good work” and we would like to extend those same words to you. It is only because of your continued support that we are able to do what we do.

  32. I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it seems to me that Demand Media hasn’t done much of anything except utilize basically the same platform as Myspace. They also haven’t offered any of their Channelme.tv customers upgrades and more Web 2.0 options.

It seems to me that U4H has continually evolved and it seems like almost every month there is something new, different, and exciting. I don’t see why anyone even wastes time writing about Demand Media and this Channelme.tv platform. In the end everyone is going to lose except Rosenblatt who will leave with bigger pockets than when he entered and move on to his next money making scheme taking with him what he can.

Channelme.tv sites are useless parked pages.

  33. I think it is VERY SAD what Demand Media has done. I also think it is VERY SAD how they continue to perpetuate a stale lack-luster platform. They have a tremendous amount of recourses, but they don’t have the creative vision and drive to take Dot TV to the next level.

I think it would be better for Dot TV, better for individuals, better for corporations, and better for the evolution and success of the Internet if Demand Media and Unity 4 Humanity were to work together. Separately U4H as done more for the industry, no one is denying that, but together great heights could be achieved. Rosenblatt and Galima, two technological visionaries on the same ticket –that’s who I cast my vote for in this election. Together the two companies have the recourses, vision, and combined portfolios to control and shape the future of Internet Television through Dot TV meeting the growing demand for new media globally.

  34. I don’t think very many people even use channelme.tv sites, or the same people utilize the majority of the sites. Some of the channelme’s I’ve been on, under the profile information it doesn’t say anything about the owner; just reiterates the name of the site. They also show that someone hasn’t added video to the site or logged into their site in over 300, or even 500 days. The last thing I’ll leave you with is that the additional web sites suggested for you to visit on the left hand side more times than none are the same; and most of these sites when you get to them have the same videos and it says this domain name is for sale. It seems to me these channelme.tv sites are very profitable parked pages for Demand Media, and that’s about it. They want you to believe many individuals are using this platform, when that just isn’t true.

  35. Scary Times, you are absolutely right. Most people using the Channelme.tv platform call themselves “investors.” They think buying a domain and launching it with this platform is going to get it recognized and allow them to cash it in for big bucks. I cannot tell you how many sites are exactly the same and have the same content.

If you begin to do a little research and check the “Whois” you will see a number of domains are owned by the same individuals, and many .tv domains are owned by individuals that are a part of Demand Media’s team. You see after U4H invested in .tv domains, Demand Media gobbled up all the available left over .tv domains they thought would be premium, assigned astronomical annual premium renewal fees, and right now are just waiting it out. The Channelme.tv platform is a big ploy that looks more powerful and impressive than it really is—it is a façade that is only popular in the minds of Demand Media, and it probably isn’t even their intension to have it catch on—they just really want to sell premium .tv domains and collect the astronomical annual fees.

  36. I don’t know why Demand Media and U4H don’t team up? The combined visions, talent, and assets would make dotTV all it can and should be. I’d love to see it–Demand Media and U4H would explode and collectively be responsible for the way individuals and corporations entertain and inform themselves. Thousands of unique channels coupled with the infrastructure and sites necessary to easily navigate, download, and share what you want–it’s a no brainer. I would love to see a technological discussion with Anthony Galima and Richard Rosenblatt; the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates of this next technological age respectively. If you’ve seen videos of those two guys they are sharp and together they would accomplish more than apart. They are surely different, but they both have a common passion for .tv domains.

My question is “Why? Why? Why, doesn’t Demand Media and U4H team up and give us what we want?” Why don’t they turn the Internet upside and really shake things up?

  37. WOW! I haven’t been back since May 26th and cannot believe these comments! This blog entry looks like it’s getting a nice high page ranking!!! Looks like when people are searching “Channelme.tv” they are getting not only useless parked pages but, “more of the same.”

I found a new editorialized fluffy news piece about Demand Media at: http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/3par-utility-storage-scales-web/story.aspx?guid=%7B75E18A5D-DA27-4EDB-B4E1-9B66DF4AEAB3%7D&dist=hppr

The article is called “3PAR Utility Storage Scales Web 2.0 Easily at Demand Media” and they state: “Demand Media uses its network of vertically-oriented Web properties to connect content creators and large audiences with advertisers.” Isn’t that funny. That explains these vast wastelands of duplicate content page after page after page with the same advertisements. I’ve found this very blog article on at least 20 channelme.tv sites. If the advertisers really knew the quality and content of the pages their advertisements are imprinted on and how many unique visitors were really clicking their links they’d probably have a heart attack. These guys are unbelievable.

  38. “Demand Media” is to “Just Horrible” as
“Unity 4 Humanity” is to “Something 4 Everyone”

I hate Demand Media in their entirety for many reasons already mentioned, and many more yet to be uncovered. Channelme.tv is nothing short of a disgrace. I consider EVERYONE to be very fortunate to have a company like U4H really making a difference and assisting real and regular people like me.

How many companies can you send the CEO an e-mail and have him reply? Unity 4 Humanity, especially Mr. Galima has inspired me and I am forever grateful.

  39. Channelme.tv is a failing social network platform; nobody uses it or wants to use it. Every time most people see one of the Channelme.tv sites they hit the back button. I’m convinced the number of sites far exceed the number of actual real users. So much more could be done with those domain names it isn’t even funny. I don’t know how or why people invested in Demand Media. Well they are good at buying established sites and web content, they are good at collecting premium renewal feels, they just don’t contribute anything different and positive to the Internet. Demand Media is all that is wrong with technology and new media companies today.

  40. At first I was really excited about Channelme.tv–I mean really excited because Demand Media hyped it up–they had a carson daly viral video of him in the shower saying get your own channelme.tv and it looked like it was going to be awesome. Channelme.tv is far from awesome, infact it isn’t anything. Most people don’t use their sites. I have put in requests to be friends with people for 200 and 300 days, and people just don’t log into their sites. The whole thing is a waste and I’m waiting for my channelme.tv site to expire.

  41. U4H would love to work with Demand Media. Demand Media is different type of company under strong leadership and together both corporations would complement each other tremendously. Both U4H and Demand Media are passionate about Dot TV. Both U4H and Demand Media have been, and will continue to be instrumental shaping the direction of Dot TV. Both Galima and Rosenblatt are technological geniuses.

Please continue to submit your comments regarding how U4H and Demand Media can and should work together. What do you hope the future holds for Dot TV? What do you like and dislike about Dot TV? How can U4H and Demand Media be better? What do you hope Channelme.tv evolves into?

    Comment by U4H | September 26, 2008

  42. Looks like U4H is really starting to kick Demand Media’s ass! What you guys are doing is awesome! I’m very excited about your new platform with Viewmy.tv. The Dot TV buzz is growing loud largely because of U4H’s efforts. I’m also beginning to notice a lot more unique dot tv’s advertised on television. In no time, U4H’s channel portfolio and offerings will reign supreme. Today after reading about Medici.tv on this blog I checked it out. It is a really awesome Dot TV even though I don’t like classical music; I hope to see more designed like that with different content.

  43. Demand Media has not done anything noteworthy in some time. Channelme.tv hasn’t changed at all–in fact it is getting worse if that is even possible. Channelme.tv’s video upload feature was provided by an external partner who announced that they can no longer support this service for Channelme.tv users as of October 3rd. In the meantime Chanelme.tv is looking for other solutions, but have ABSOLUTELY NO short term plan to continue to allow their users direct video upload. They are a horrible company with a stupid platform that just became a lot worse. I don’t think they care about any of their customers or the inferior products they provide.

    Comment by Meg | October 21, 2008

  44. Channelme.tv is a horrible platform and fairly useless. It is unfortunate because Demand Media has not done, and is not doing anything to separate Dot TV from the rest of the top level domains. Demand Media doesn’t push the benefits of Internet Television they just push selling their premium domains which don’t really sell and their channelme.tv platform that they give away for free. All of the channelme.tv sites pretty much look the same and seem to be quite inactive. Everything I know about the Internet Television merger, the future of technology, and DotTV I know because of Unity 4 Humanity. The only thing holding back the Dot TV extension is a lack of awareness; but I am confident in time not only will people be aware of and favor dot tv domains, but U4H and Dot TV will be synonymous. If you search Dot TV plus anything, you are sure to find a Unity site, engaging content, and interesting info. I am a big fan of unique Dot TV’s and I appreciate all Unity is doing for Internet Television.

  45. I have nothing nice to say about Channelme.tv and Enom.com because I have had nothing but bad experiences. The comments on this news article for the most part are right on. There is no real support for the Channelme.tv sites, no one answers or addresses my questions regarding my site—it is almost as if they don’t even read what I send them, they just send links and give you the run around. Also the Channelme.tv ad revenue sharing platform seems to be a big scam because I signed up for it as soon as it became available and since that time my channelme.tv site has over 15,000 page visits, but yet I haven’t seen even one cent. I’m waiting for my site to expire, then I’m going to transfer it and renew it in The Engine That Can and work on creating a REAL dot tv. Just to show the difference between two companies, I’m not even a Unity 4 Humanity customer, but I went on the core consulting site, sent a consultant an e-mail with some of my techie questions, and I didn’t get an e-mail response with someone trying to sell me a product or service, I got someone who helped me and answered my questions just for the sake of helping me. Demand Media has a lot to learn about customer service and .tv domains. I also think Richard Rosenblatt can’t be that intelligent and just slapped Demand Media together. When his venture goes bust, he’ll pull out unscathed, start another new venture, and regular people like me will get screwed. I AM COMPLETELY PISSED and recommend people steer clear of Channelme.tv and save themselves the headache.

    Comment by Pissed | October 29, 2008

  46. A lot of people in the namepros forum have the sentiment that Channelme.tv is on the way out and ready to go bust. Is the end of the channelme.tv platform near? Since day one, I’ve been one of those people who believed channelme.tv was a site slightly above a parked page.

Comment by Frequent Namepros | November 5, 2008

  47. I believe that Demand Media is focusing on profitability rather than expansion. Given that it may not have seen the anticipated success expected with its ChannelMe.tv platform, it seems like its dropped its video upload feature and has no current plans to bring it back, probably due to costs, but this is pure speculation on my part. I certainly hope they will bring this feature back and continue to improve their platform.

For those who are not relying on others to succeed with their Dot TV domains/websites, you may want to read a recent review of the 1st Annual Global.tv Internet Expo, which was the first event that brought dot tv fans, investors and developers together to discuss some of the things affecting the extension.

    http://www.allthings.tv/forum/showthread.php?t=20492

The second global.tv Internet Expo has not been announced, but is expected to take place in early 2009.

  49. I noticed Hollywood.tv no longer utilizes the Channelme.tv platform; now the .tv domain forwards to a celebbuzz.com platform. It seems like Channelme.tv’s most popular user and founder of Hollywood.tv Inc, Sheeraz Hasan, has jumped ship to a much better platform. Unfortunately, Hollywood.tv still isn’t a unique dot tv channel, but at least they aren’t using Channelme.tv anymore.

    Comment by Hollywood.tv | December 30, 2008

  50. This is my first post on this news blog, so I want to make it a good one. Channelme.tv is definitely more of the same and it has always been a sinking ship. I have to agree with just about everything written in this post and news article. I think Demand Media is just horrible, and I think they will be forced to dump this stupid platform in the near future. From what I see, nobody even logs into and uses these sites anymore. There is no way a Channelme site can compete with a unique DotTV—it just can’t. U4H has amazing vision, and soon I suspect with the death of analog television they will become mainstream. I don’t think U4H should have anything to do with these Demand Media monkeys, and I hope Unity4Humanity will begin really launching all the wonderful DotTV’s currently under development. U4H must have been if not the first, one of the very first to invest in DotTV’s because their portfolio is unmatched–even by Demand Media–most of their premium domains are a joke–and they are trying to extort big money for them. Demand Media seems to just want to make money and U4H seems to want to really educate people and inspire change. This is a great source of information and keep up the good work.

    Comment by Jonathan | January 12, 2009

  51. I think Channelme.tv was never much to begin with and definitely is all but washed up now. After reading the news in this blog about unique Dot TV’s, how can they compete? How can a Channelme.tv site compete with Adidas.tv or MakeZine.tv? How can Demand Media compete with Unity 4 Humanity? They just can’t!

I don’t know anyone who uses a Channelme.tv site. I don’t know why anyone with half a brain in their head would want to use that platform. If you own a .tv domain or are using a Channelme.tv platform and don’t have the necessary skills to develop a dotTV on your own, it would be better to make money with a “paid parking” page and save up until you can create something unique.
